Addictionology

Drug addiction has become an epidemic in the United States, specifically opioid abuse. The Pain Center works with patients to overcome substance abuse and the fear of living with chronic pain.

What is Addictionology, and Why is it Important?

Addictionology is the study of addiction and its overall impact. Addiction occurs when the body develops a dependency on a substance. For example, opioid medications are highly addictive and can lead to individuals developing an opioid use disorder.

While prescription drugs are not harmful in themselves, they become an issue when they’re taken differently than prescribed by a doctor.

Our experts work with our pain management team to provide non-narcotic treatments like minimally invasive interventional procedures to provide long-term pain relief and increase the quality of life.

How Can an Addictionologist Help me During Detox?

Detoxing from the substance is vital to treatment for opioid and other drug addictions. The Pain Center’s treatment programs work over a period of time to help you overcome addiction, withdrawal symptoms, and the physical ailments that accompany it.
