Cindy Cornell, FNP

Cindy graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1982 with a B.A. in nursing. She received her Master’s in nursing and FNP from UOP in Arizona in 2006, graduating as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Omicron Delta Chapter, and the International Honor Society. Cindy has been the recipient of many amazing awards, including:

  • 2005/2006 Manchester’s Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals
  • 2006 Woman of the Year Award from the American Biographical Institute, USA
  • 2007 Life Time Achievement Award in Nursing from the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, England
  • 2010 National Association of Professional Women Award for Developing Cornell education for pain management
  • 2011 The Executive National Association of Professional Women’s Award, New York

Prior to moving to Arizona, Cindy worked as a pediatric pain management Nurse Clinician at St Louis children’s hospital for 13 years. She help developed the Pain service at St Louis Children’s Hospital for inpatient and outpatient program.

Cindy, one of the few NP’s trained in acupuncture in the nation, recently published a chapter in Yun-tau Ma’s book on the NP’s role in dry needling with chronic low back pain. Cindy has penned many publications through the years, including:

  • 1996 St. Louis Children’s Hospital PCA, Epidraul Coloring Book
  • 1996 St. Louis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Pain Management Drug Information Book
  • 1997 St. Louis Children’s Hospital Burn Manual, comforting a child during painful procedures

Cindy has treated acute, chronic, malignant, procedural, trauma pain from pediatric pain to the elderly. She incorporates humor in her daily care of patients.  Cindy has lectured locally and throughout the United States, Internationally on Pain management throughout the life span. She is certified in dry needling through the Biomedical Acupuncture Institute with Yun Tao, Ma. She is also certified and trained in the following:

  • Certified ETPS Therapist & Instructor with Acumed Medical, Toronto, Canada
  • Biofeedback Therapist
  • Aroma Therapist
  • Student of Doctorate for Naturopathy
  • Licensed Massage Therapist in Tui Na Massage (Chinese massage done by acupuncturists in China)
  • Plans for studying Humanistic Medicine with Patch Adams, MD in October, 2011

Cindy is a fellow of the American Academy of Pain Management, Certified Pain Practitioner.

Cindy has done volunteer work at the Special Olympics, Leukemia Society, St Mary Food Bank and Midety Mud Mania. Her Hobbies are running marathon’s (she has ran many marathons raising funds for the leukemia society), gardening, and spending time with her family. She is a yaya (Greek for grandmother) of 2.

Cindy believes no one should suffer in pain; there is always a “bucket of hope”.
